About What Goes Where?

You may be wondering how What Goes Where? got started or why I have decided to sort through people's “stuff” for a living. Let me tell you a little about myself and it may answer those questions for you.

Some people were born to shop…I was born to organize. As far back as elementary school, I can remember having all my school supplies all in order and laid out for the next day and liked to keep my bedroom clean so I always knew where all my things were.

Over the years I began to realize what a gift I had, because so many people I knew struggled with being organized. It didn't matter whether I was in college, at my home, or in the workplace, people always made comments to me about how organized I was and how they wished I would organize for them.

I always felt like there must be something else more meaningful I could use my organizational skills for other than what I already had been doing, but I couldn't figure out what that would be.

A couple years ago I read the book Cure for the Common Life, Living in Your Sweet Spot by Max Lucado. Here is a quote from that book:

Our Maker gives assignments to people, “to each according to each one's unique ability” (Matt. 25:15). As he calls, he equips. Look back over your life. What have you consistently done well? What have you loved to do? Stand at the intersection of your affections and successes and find your uniqueness.

You have one. A divine spark. An uncommon call to an uncommon life. “The Spirit has given each of us a special way of serving others” (1 Cor. 12:7 CEV).

Serving others was that “something more meaningful” thing I hadn't figured out. Now I can serve others by teaching them my organizational skills.

Max Lucado goes on to say:

You were born prepacked. God looked at your entire life, determined your assignment, and gave you the tools to do the job.

God packed you on purpose for a purpose.

I believe that my “assignment” on earth is to help others decrease stress, create a peaceful living/working environment, and to live a more balanced life by teaching them to be organized. I thoroughly love doing what I am doing. Seeing a client's smile and hearing them say, “You've changed my life” is definitely a great day!
